For water tourism in West Sumatra for the first I will introduce singkarat lake, following on Lake Batur information.
Lake Batur is a lake that stretches in two districts in West Sumatra, Indonesia, which is the district of Solok and Tanah Datar.
This lake has an area of 107.8 km² and is the 2nd largest lake on the island of Sumatra. This lake is upstream Ombilin River. However sebahagian lake water is channeled through a tunnel cut through the Bukit Barisan to Batang Anai to drive a generator hydropower Singkarak near Lubuk Alung, Padang district Pariaman.Duduk-sitting on the edge of the lake, we will be amazed by the panoramic view of Lake Batur are clean and beautifully surrounded by green hills surroundings.
No water hyacinth and weeds growing on the surface of the water. The water looks clear and shiny like glass giant puddle. The air is cool and breezy winds, makes us linger on the edge of this lake.
We can enjoy the beauty of the lake on the roadside.
The depth of the lake are quite extreme is also affecting the ecosystem of the lake, including the types of aquatic plants and fish diversity.
According to the study, although the vast Lake Batur, but freshwater fish species that were here not too much. There are only 19 species of fish. Among these fish bilih, nilem, and rinuak. Bilih fish species are thought to be typical of Lake Batur.
Why Lake Batur poor fish? This is because the growth of aquatic organisms, such as plankton is very low. In fact, as we know, this plankton feed small fish in the food chain will be a food fish bigger.
Therefore plankton that became the initial source of food fish are small in number is very limited, then the big fish became no.
Why plankton in Lake Batur is not much? The reason is because the lake bottom is very deep and impenetrable light, so that plankton can not breed with subur.Apalagi, river water is rich with humus and organic waste directly wasted in the bottom of a deep lake. In fact, organic waste is properly can be a medium growth of plankton.
Why Lake Batur basis so deep? Geologists suspect Lake Batur which are in the long basin Singkarak - Solok is due amblesnya layer of the earth's crust beneath Sumatra fault.
Basin was then filled with water sourced from the forest Singgalang, Mount Merapi, Mount Sago, Mount Talang, and the Kerinci National Park in Bukit Barisan.
Due to volcanic eruptions in the vicinity, both ends of the valley eruption buried material so that the water collected in the basin into the lake that we know as Lake Batur.
Because of this lake allegedly formed by the movement of tectonic plates, the Lake Batur including the type of tectonic lakes.
For geologists, Lake Batur is very interesting to study. The reason is because the lake is sandwiched between two parts of Sumatra fault that continues to move, so the lake area is also constantly moving and expanding.
Experts suspect, initially Lake Batur is approximately 3 kilometers in length only. Because of the shift in the fault-fault, slowly long Lake Batur to 8 kilometers, then 13 kilometers, and now it has reached 23 kilometers.
